Finish Line Tips

I know you're all working hard to make your deadline of Monday, April 30 at 5 p.m. Here are some last-minute tips I hope will help you on your journey.

1. Lean on me...within reason:) I am happy to take a look at changes to sections you've been updating, especially if you've had to do a bit of an overhaul. However, I won't have time to give substantial feedback or edits--especially later in the week--so please plan accordingly.

2. Don't forget your TOC or your pagination, for that matter.

3. Your capstone should include four major sections: the Title PageAbstractMain Body, and References. Purdue Owl is your friend for figuring out the formatting of these sections.

4. Feel free to include an Acknowledgements page right after the title page. Acknowledge anyone who contributed to the project, including financial contributors.

5. Ask someone to read your paper in the next two days--a friend, relative, whatever. When they've finished, ask them about the main point and whether they think your arguments support it. Then ask someone you trust to do a thorough copy edit.

6. Don't do any major rewrites next weekend--you risk putting yourself in a hole. After Friday, all changes should be polishing. Plan to have everything ready to send by 7 p.m. on Sunday so that you have a buffer for any emergencies.

7. Be confident--I've read everything you've written several times now, and you're all on track to do well.

8. See you Monday (is anyone going to tell me where to be?)

Good Luck!
